The building has been renewed and expanded with a new maternity unit. The "Maternité Soeur Suzanne" was named after our mission sister Suzanne Tuyaerts who has been working there for years. What an improvement! The sick receive the best possible care and stay in spacious group rooms. Expectant mothers are supervised until delivery and after birth it is ensured that the babies receive the necessary vaccinations. This aftercare takes place in the consultation center, built a few years ago with your help and subsidy from Cordaid, near the health center. Nutritional advice is also given here. It is always busy and working with dedication.

Unfortunately, the expansion of the health center also has consequences. Because the building is now much larger, the current generator has an insufficient capacity. In Batouri there are often  prolonged power outages. Solar panels are therefore the best investment and the most future-oriented choice for the lighting, but also the fridge for cooling medicines, operating medical instruments / equipment, the computer etc. The costs of solar panels are high due to the expensive batteries in which the energy must be stored. We do our best to help with financing. The African sun wants to cooperate 100%.
